Quiet Moment on the Big Weekend:

Just about the time it starts to get really hot in the valley, Spring presents itself at higher elevations.  I love extending the seasons by going to the mountains.  This June, we had been up to Almanor several times.  It was fun to watch Spring blooms increase with each trip.

A possible storm was forecasted at Lassen National Park this day.  It didn’t look like it would be too bad.  With changing weather brings the potential for dramatic skies, so of course we headed over.  On our way there, we drove through this meadow.  I am often drawn to large peaks or a snowcapped range.  There is something about the quiet, solitary beauty of this location.  It’s both peaceful and dramatic. 

Lassen was covered in high clouds.  We got a hike in, but the image of the day was this one!  On the way back we had lunch close to this spot and ended up stopping again.  It’s one of those views that perfectly encapsulates a season!
