Celebrating the Eastern Sierras
June Lake, California
For many of us, once you have been to the Eastern Sierras, you can’t stop thinking about it. The region is special for many reasons, often different for each of us. This image shows off some of the things that make it so unique. Towering, snowcapped peaks in the distance. Random geological formations intermixed throughout the valley. High desert sage and other hardy plants. Often changing weather, represented here as interesting cloud formations.
This image was taken on a crisp winter day. After enjoying a meandering hike in this area, I came upon this spot. It seemed to represent all that I was experiencing in one spot. I will always remember standing on the top of the red rock you now see, looking out with 360-degree views, thinking at that moment there was nothing I needed in the world other than to be right here!
