Lake Days Summer Dive

What an evening it was.  This feels like a quintessential summer moment.  After a long hot day in the sun, one final plunge into the lake.  We have many special places in Northern California.  With work and busy schedules, it’s easy to find excuses to stay home.  When I see this image, I am reminded how simple life can really be when you finally get out there.  While I talk about the moment above, the location is just as iconic.  Lake Almanor with Lassen Peak in the distance, immersed in a glorious sunset.

So how did this image happen?  After dinner with family and friends the sky was showing promise.  Often there is some arm twisting involved when I need an anonymous subject to patiently wait and then actively participate at the right moment.  Not this day.  I got the shot composed, waited to see how good the color was going to get.  Once it was time, I quickly dialed in my camera settings and action!  How many shots/attempts did it take to get the dive just right.  Let's just say many.  This was one I knew I had in the moment, which is possibly the only way to make an evening like this better!
