Granite Sunrise at Emerald Bay
Lake Tahoe, California
Like the saying goes, you can’t get the image if you don’t go. When I got up early this morning, I was nearly positive there would be no spectacular colorful sunrise. So, I drove over to the area, parked, put a headlamp on and walked in anyway. I had scouted for a spot the day before, so I had a good idea of where I would want to be.
Rather than being frustrated about what I didn’t have, it was important to be present and see what nature was giving me. After getting the tripod set up and checking out a few angles I became aware of how much potential this granite had. The gears started turning and my focus narrowed to how I would use the stone.
With no clouds in the sky, my moment was going to be that small period of time when the sun was first breaking over the horizon. With my camera in place, it was time to settle in and enjoy the show about to take place. I was counting on light through the pines but was really excited to see how vibrant the color was.
Getting to experience something like this first thing in the morning has a way of making the rest of the day just better!
