This moment was as awesome to experience as it looks here! It was January in Death Valley. We were moving through the dunes in the late morning. We had a solid hazy cloud layer up until this point. As it started to break up the sun was just high enough to get light on the sand in several places. I didn’t know how long the moment would last, so I found myself running to this area. With some small adjustments I was able to get the hiker placed in the low bright spot. Looking at this I am reminded of all the different things I was feeling. The sand was still cold, the sun on my face was very much welcomed, and a slight breeze added that final element. As with many of my images, I enjoy creating scenes that make locations feel enormous, and us people just small parts within them.
