Late Morning in Yosemite Valley
Yosemite National Park, CA
Finding Balance in the Valley
I was already having a great day when I got to this location. I had been up since before sunrise working on another image and was getting hungry for breakfast. At the time, there was not a cloud in the sky. Just to be prepared, I picked out a spot that had potential. While I was enjoying my eggs things started to look promising. By the time I was done eating there were enough clouds for me to jump into action.
Over the next hour the sky was constantly changing. Nature gave me lots of options. If you have been following my work, you can see I love clouds. In the end, it was an easy decision. This was a distinctive sky, which came and went fast. The balance of stone, trees, water, and sky seem just right. I could go on and on about this image!
I grew up going to Yosemite and love the “Main Attractions”. Having said that, this is one of my favorite images of the park. It can be hard to find a quiet place to yourself in The Valley. This is far enough out of the way that it is not busy. Picture yourself walking through the green grass on a cool morning in late May. The sounds of nature and spectacular views fill your senses. This is one of those times when I find myself saying, “In this moment, all I want is to be present! There is nothing else I need in this world!”
This is one of just a few images we sold pre-2020. As a result, the series will be 250.
