The Solitude of the Lonely Oak
Even when it was no longer alive, this tree looked so powerful all by itself. Perfectly positioned on the crest of a hill. This is one of those things I see and put in the back of my mind for the right time. It was located near a road where every day, lots of people passed it going fast. I would often wonder how many of them saw its unique beauty.
As you can see, the day came, and I was ready. The clouds were really putting on a show. It became clear that I would use them to create a bit of drama for the tree. As the storm was building, I finally got what I wanted; Bright white clouds behind the tree and a darker part of the system off to the side. I needed viewers of this image to feel what that moment was like. By making the tree smaller and off center in the frame, the gathering storm plays a big part.
This is an image that begs you to create a story for. Perhaps a new one every time you look at it.
