Manzanita Lake Reflection
Lassen Volcanic National Park, California
This day felt so relaxing and peaceful. The lake was calm, no mosquitos or breeze, pleasant temperature. I spent several hours just taking it in. Walking from one break in the trees to another. As the sun got lower and the light better, my thoughts turned to an angle of the lake I had planned to capture. I found myself becoming really focused on getting to a different location for a shot of Lassen Peak. I was worried about missing the light so hiking pretty fast. As a result, I almost walked right past this scene. In all reality, I did walk past it, and then snapped out of it, and walked back. Once I slowed down, and let what I was seeing guide me, things became clear. My preconceived ideas about what was going to happen this day nearly prevented me from seeing what was actually happening. Simple beauty right in front of me!
