I am the lone hiker in this image.  When I came across this area at Eagle Lake it was threatening rain.  As you might have guessed by seeing my other images, when the weather report is questionable, I like to go!  Being late spring, there was not a person in this area or on the road coming in.  My thoughts were on using the sky, lake, and solitude to recreate the stark emptiness of this moment in time.  I knew this would be a black and white final image before I captured the first picture.

As things can go by yourself, everything takes longer (Like 30 minutes to an hour longer)!  When I was finally satisfied with my posture and specific placement in the image it was time to kick back and take this moment in!  It is hard to describe the sense of absolute contentment when I know there is something special on the camera.  Sure, there will be many hours in post-production, but that’s a positive time as well, with my vision coming together.  In the moment I am reminded how important it is to get out into nature and see what show it will put on for you!
